A woman in Shakespeare and a woman in STEM
Laurel Buxton is an artist and researcher located in Cedar City, Utah. She began as an actor in Northwest Arkansas, which led her to pursue a degree in Classical Acting from Southern Utah University. Once there, she realized her true passion for healing through the arts and the long-forgotten practice of using nutrition to sustain creativity. Over the course of her undergraduate experience she designed and conducted a research project titled "From Starving to Sustained" which collected data regarding the nutrition habits of students in Southern Utah University's Department of Theatre, Dance, and Arts Administration. This project is the start of an ongoing project titled "Artistic Wellness." You can read more about it here.
At Southern Utah University, Buxton was recognized twice consecutively as the Outstanding Student in Human Values, the Grace A. Tanner Center Scholar, and the Southern Utah University Student Commencement Speaker for the Class of 2022.
She is currently a Financial Wellness Coordinator for the Southern Utah University, where she is pursuing her Masters in Interdisciplinary Studies, her disciplines being Arts Administration, Leadership Studies, and General Studies.
